Kissaki Their Newest Outpost Means More Traditional Japanese Omakase and Innovative Dining Design

Garry Kanfer strikes again with his newest NYC outpost of his beloved downtown omakase hot spot, Kissaki. Restaurant fans of the Bowery location now have their own local Kissaki on the Upper West Side at Columbus Avenue. For those new to Kissaki, it is a concept that offers an innovative culinary experience rooted in Japanese tradition.

Kissaki’s welcoming ambiance directly correlates with Executive Chef Edgar Valerio’s culinary vision to create a space where everyone feels at home. Valerio’s unwavering determination for designing a seamless experience has inspired an extraordinary style of Omakase.  The inviting interior design of Kissaki offers 12 seats at its omakase bar and 70 seats in total. Created for guests to choose the experience that best suits their dining desires, this new location has a weatherproof patio, a roadside pergola and indoor dining options.

The concept proudly uses the freshest and most authentic ingredients to execute memorable and mouth watering dining experiences. Owner Garry Kanfer became his own distributor, importing fish from Japan to achieve authenticity and also keep costs accessible for guests. Table omakase is available every day, and the omakase counter is available from Wednesday to Saturday, showcasing both a 12-course meal for $120 or a 15-course meal for $150. The 12-course meal includes 2 Appetizers, 9 Specialty Nigiri, Dessert while the 15- course meal includes Chef’s Selection of 3 Appetizers, 10 Nigiri Pieces, 1 Hand Roll, and Dessert. The Bowery location also offers a special 10 piece omakase for $80 that includes one Chef’s Selection Appetizer, 8 Nigiri Pieces, and Soup. The house menu also includes specialty sushi sets such as Yon which features 4 pieces of chef’s choice nigiri, Miso Soup & Edamame, choice of maki, while the Roku option includes 6 pieces of chef’s choice nigiri with the same additions. Standout small plates, which should not be passed over include the delightful uni sundae, tuna stuffed avocado and the spicy cucumber.

This restaurant’s loyalty to excellence is fueled by owner Garry Kanfer’s diverse background and distinct eye for world-class experiences. Kanfer describes himself as a sushi addict with a successful history of entrepreneurship. Kanfer is also the founder of Big Drop, a full-service digital agency, servicing Fortune 500 clients across the company’s three locations. Kanfer’s knack for building brands has helped Kissaki establish permanent residency in NYC and in the Hamptons where he’s excited to introduce pop ups from pasta RAMEN and Lilikoi at Kissaki’s Water Mill outpost this summer.
