Bank & Bourbon Dining Bringing The Community Together Over A Glass Of Bourbon

When it comes to finding the best beverage program in the City of Brotherly Love, Bank & Bourbon will definitely have you feeling the love. American-inspired restaurant Bank & Bourbon features an innovative barrel-aging program for house-aged liquors and cocktails, all under the guidance of their experienced Bourbon Masters and beverage team. For the best and broadest bourbon experience, guests can enjoy tiers of tastings paired with cheese and charcuterie or a three-course meal. With so much going on, Dan Rivas, General Manager of Bank & Bourbon, is focused on bringing the community together over their bourbon program and fresh philosophy.

How are you planning on making the restaurant more community driven? Community involvement has always been a top priority and a core value for Bank & Bourbon. Whether it is through our Flavor by Loews Hotels program, where we partner with local purveyors to feature their products on our menus, or hosting Distiller Happy Hours, where they can experience our unique spirits,
our connection to the community is essential to the success of Bank & Bourbon.

What is the concept of the restaurant? Bank & Bourbon features an innovative barrel-aging program for house-aged liquors and creative cocktails under the guidance of our experienced Bourbon Masters, and an inherently American menu by Chef Craig Meyers that offers creative, seasonal interpretations of classic dishes. We feature a diverse variety of flights, bourbons, and American Whiskey.

Explain your unique bourbon program? Our experienced team of mixologists simply do not make a drink; they craft a cocktail, using our unique selection of rare and hardto-find whiskies. Aged in charred American oak barrels, we offer guests – from the cocktail enthusiast to the novice – the opportunity to experience crafted cocktails throughout the aging process. Additionally, guests have the option of purchasing a bourbon locker through our bourbon locker program and choosing from our wide array of whiskies and enjoying their purchase on subsequent visits.

As a city restaurant, our selection of American bourbon and whiskey is truly unmatched. We showcase its uniqueness based on how it is aged, where it is made, what it is made from, as well as how it is barreled. The charred oak wood barrels mellow the bourbon and smooth out the taste. In addition to aging the bourbon in the barrels, the taste can be changed by introducing other flavors to the product by soaking or curing the barrel with a different spirit, such as aged rum, port, or chardonnay. As the barrels are refilled for aging new product, the flavors from previous batches will enhance and change the taste and flavor of the bourbon.

Our unique barrel-aging program is executed under the guidance of our beverage team who can guide guests through the process or help to educate them on the notes that they taste and smell. Our Bourbon Master can create a flight of bourbon upon request to showcase the differences in the various spirits, and assist guests with pairing the right spirit with the right food for the optimal beverage and food experience.

Do you host events to bring people together over curated experiences or tastings? Offering experiences to bring guests together to enjoy great food and drinks is what Bank & Bourbon is all about. The beverage team works with the top spirits and purveyors to host Distiller Happy Hours, tastings and more.

Does the city of Philadelphia inspire any of the items or philosophy? Philadelphia and the Northeast is known as the cradle of cocktails, as this is the area in which cocktails emerged as single servings of popular colonial punch beverages. Bank & Bourbon features Benjamin Franklin’s favorite Milk Punch cocktail, derived from Franklin’s own recipe sent to a friend in Boston in the
1700s. This colonial favorite has a contemporary twist and is made on-site and bottled in single-serving brown glass apothecary bottles. It includes milk, green tea, whiskey, and lemon juice and is a light and refreshing beverage.
