Watching Juna & Joey from the wings of the swanky confines of the hip Seville lounge in NoMad as they mesmerized an influential Manhattan gaggle of scensters earlier this Summer.
My first thought was this. Why hasn’t the Disney Channel not sought to create a GenZ style Variety Show around this mega-talented indie folk rock brother-sister-duo out of Nashville? My second thought was this. And how did the famed Hollywood director Baz Luhrmann not discover Joey Defeo who would’ve made the perfect young Elvis Presley for his coming Warner Brothers movie on the king of rock & roll?  una & Joey have been the darlings of Nashville music industry insiders for some time and their major breakout moment is nonetheless now at hand.
Both have a natural gift for musical arrangement, harmony and songwriting with many calling them ”the new version of The Carpenters”.  The brother/sister superstars of 70’s folk rock who scored many hits back then including the classic – ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’.  A title which could not be more appropriate to describe the ascent on the music scene of these kids from Nashville via Palm Beach.
After mesmerizing a specially curated crowd of influencers and tastemakers such as journalist Carlos Greer, bon-vivant Carmen D’Alessio, fashionista insider Freddie Lieba and other glamorous souls that night at Seville which, by the way, is the coolest tapas bar  to watch live music in New York City.
Juna & Joey took from their NYC debut for England and the summer ending music festival tour they’ll be undertaking for two weeks beginning this Autumn. No doubt, their latest Spotify power ballad ‘Until Your Heart Breaks’ from their coming EP in October will have the kids flickering cigaret lighters and singing along to every lyric. Keep an ear out for Juna & Joey.  #gwsays.
