Dune Jewelry & Co. x 4ocean Collaborate to Counteract Ocean Plastic Crisis with New Collection

Dune Jewelry, the beloved experiential jewelry brand, has designed a collection that supports 4ocean’s global ocean cleanup operation by transforming recovered ocean plastic into wearable designs. Made with fine sterling silver and materials from the world’s most famed beaches, you can make an impact by wearing these treasures made from transformed ocean litter. The purchase of each piece enables professional captains and crews to pull up to ten pounds of trash from oceans around the world with every design sold!

Dune Jewelry founder Holly Christensen says that the collaboration is a dream come true for her as she has is able to combine both her passions for creating jewelry designs and making a difference.

“I’ve looked up to 4ocean for years because you can see them out there pulling pounds of plastics out of our oceans. When Alex Schulze, one of the founders reached out and said he had been following us for a while and loved the synergy and asked to do something, I said heck yeah! The more money we make from this collection the more plastics we can pull from the ocean, so the price points are a bit more expensive than many of our normal products.”

So far, they have raised enough to pull hundreds of pounds of plastics and other harmful materials from the ocean but are on their way to making that number rise dramatically as they keep spreading awareness. Let’s just say that making a difference is nothing new for Dune, which has donated over $200,000 over the past five years to different coastal and global charities that are close to Holly’s heart, including the Association to Preserve Cape Cod, multiple fundraisers for diabetes as Holly’s father passed away from the disease, and many others as part of an ongoing giving program.

Helping remove trash and pollutants from the ocean is also good for us humans, not just marine life. “If you eat fish or shellfish or anything from the ocean, you are ingesting plastic because our oceans are treated so poorly,” says Holly. “Fish are ingesting all kinds of harmful matter.”
