Why Hiring Moving and Storage Companies Was the Best Decision We Made

Moving? The worst mix of stress, sweat and lost socks. It seems simple: you pack things, transfer, unpack, done. But no. It looks like days of chaos, backs cracking, and boxes mysteriously multiplying.

We seriously planned to do it all ourselves. So, how hard can it be, right? Well… a lot.

After two days of struggling with the mattress in the stairwell and trying to fit the sofa in the elevator that simply refused, we decided to call apartment movers NY. And it was, hands down, the smartest thing we could have done.

They Had a Plan, and We Had Panic

We: “Where should we start? Is the kitchen or the wardrobe going first? Where are the scissors?”

They: “We have the order, we have the procedure, we have everything you need.”

While we were panicking about where to put the vase from Egypt (which we don’t even like), they were heavily wrapping the TV in protective layers. They seemed like people who had done it a hundred times, because…well, they had.

They knew how to avoid scratches, how to pack fragile glass, and where to arrange the boxes so they wouldn’t turn into a tower of death in the van.

Forget the Begging of Relatives and Friends

You know the classic: “Hey bro, I’m moving; I need help.”

Answer: silence. Or even worse—”I had something planned that day.”

Everyone has excuses, and even when they do, you quickly realize that all the help is more psychological than physical. Professionals don’t have that. They are not late, they do not complain, they do not forget to bring gloves. And they don’t stop after the third box to “take a break”.

Plus, no one blames you for making them drag their wardrobes across the hot asphalt because that’s their job.

Packaging Without the Headache

We tried to be organized. Boxes, scotch tape, and markers; we’ve got everything. We packed the first box like professionals. The second was already full of everything and anything, and the third… the third didn’t even close.

Then they came. Brought non-disintegrating boxes, packed things with logic, labeled everything as if NASA was going to unpack it. They paid special attention to fragile items, wrapping even those little things that we would just put in a bag.

You know when you’re looking for a charger days after moving? Well, we knew exactly where it was because they packed it where it made sense.

Storage – When Time Is Not on Your Side

We couldn’t move into a new apartment right away. And the old one had to be abandoned. A typical city situation. And what to do with all that stuff? To rock them at your aunt’s in the living room?

No. They had a solution—storage—and not the “throw it in the garage and forget it” thing. Theirs was clean, moisture-free, and with security cameras. They even have air conditioners there. All our belongings were safe, as in a safe. And we could breathe deeply and focus on the move without additional worries.

The Hard Stuff? Not Our Problem

When we started packing, after the fifth trip up and down the stairs, we realized that maybe—just maybe—this this was not for us.

Without a word, they lifted the wardrobes, refrigerators, and washing machines. They were carried through narrow corridors, staircases without elevators and streets full of parked cars. All with a smile.

During that time we watched, sipped coffee and thought how we will love them forever.

Insurance That Gives Peace of Mind

One of the biggest concerns when moving? What if something gets damaged or lost?

With them, everything is covered. Every item listed, every piece insured. Even though we didn’t break anything (which is a miracle), we knew that if it did – they would fix it. No stretching.

You know that feeling when you know you’re in safe hands? Well, that.

The Big Price?

The biggest myth is that a moving company is too expensive. It’s true—if you count everything you would pay for yourself (truck, fuel, packaging, damage if something breaks, sick days due to sciatica), it comes out the same, or cheaper.

And you know what else? They offer a variety of options. You can choose only transport, or full service where they even unpack your things and arrange them in your rooms.

A Fresh Start Without Stress

Moving doesn’t have to be a traumatic experience. You don’t have to drag things, curse the elevator, and lose your chargers and nerves.

We decided to make it easier for ourselves, and we did not repent. If we ever move again, we will call them again without thinking.

If you are wondering whether you really need help with moving, here is our answer: YES. Forget all those stories about “we can do it ourselves”—you can, but why would you? Hiring apartment movers has saved us time, health, energy, and marriage (to be realistic).

The experience was positive from start to finish. And that’s why, if you’re moving, call them. Seriously. Life is complicated enough without trying to push a chest of drawers through a door half a centimeter narrower than it.
