11 Tigers in NYC’s East Village Hosted Vesta Chocolate and 818 Tequila for a Special Evening of Truffle Making and Espresso Martini Sipping
11 Tigers, the East Village’s latest hotspot which serves up flavorful fare in a fun, intimate atmosphere, debuted their Yuzu Espresso Martini featuring 818 Tequila Reposado on Wednesday, April 19th. Guests were also invited to partake in a hands-on truffle making session where they created their own collection of Vesta Chocolate Truffles infused with 818 Tequila Ganache. PARK was honored to be the media sponsor of the event which brought together two tasty brands – 818 Tequila was founded by Kendall Jenner, while Vesta Chocolate is owned by a husband-and-wife team with storefront in Montclair, New Jersey. They also sell their confections throughout the city.
Your journey to 11 Tigers begins when you walk up the stairs surrounded by a whimsical mural of colorful tigers. Once you arrive, you are transported to a secluded space with wooden touches and of course, more tigers, from unique artwork to masks and figurines. The upbeat spot is New York City’s only speakeasy with a Thai heart and a Japanese soul. The marriage of these two culinary cultures is reflected in their menu, which includes small plates like Crying Tiger Gyoza and Thai Larb Tuna as well as larger dishes including 11 Tigers Tom Yum Ramen—tonkatsu ramen with jumbo prawn—and Black Panther Curry, squid ink fettuccine in makrut lime, plus scented Thai Panang curry topped with seared ribeye steak.
It’s a magical place with a bit of mystery – plus plenty of sensory experiences for both the eyes and the taste buds. Here, Thai sum yadong meets the Japanese izakaya with a healthy dash of American craft cocktails, where sad, fierce, smoky, and old-fashioned tigers frolic together. Several of their libations are made with yadong, a traditional Thai liqueur infused with herbs that have been used as a health tonic and social lubricant for generations. It’s part of the fabric of Thai culture, as people gather at sum yadong, or roadside stands to drink and socialize, just like folks gather at izakayas in Japan. There are dozens of varieties, including their popular 11 Tigers, from which they get their name. Their tribute to 11 Tigers yadong is made from gin steeped with 11 types of herbs, including lime peel, lemongrass, basil, chili, tamarind, star anise, and ginger.
Their friendly owner, who grew up in Thailand, beams with pride as he explains how he is bringing his home country’s culinary heritage and history to New York customers. From unique and authentic food to their speakeasy vibe and tigers lurking all around, get ready for one fierce night out!
